Πελματιαία Απονευρωσίτιδα
Τα συνηθέστερα αίτια της πελματιαίας απονευρωσίτιδας είναι:
-Πολύ σφικτοί μύες στην γαστροκνημία
-Ορθοστασία και έντονη καταπόνηση και βάδιση κατά την διάρκεια εργασίας με γενικά αυξημένα φορτία και παπούτσια που δεν υποστηρίζουν επαρκώς την ποδική καμάρα
-η πολύ υψηλή ή χαμηλή καμάρα και ο υπερ-πρηνισμός του ποδιού
-παχυσαρκία
-οι γυναίκες είναι πιθανότερο από τους άνδρες να παρουσιάσουν πελματιαία απονευρωσίτιδα,
-ηλικία, συνήθως από την 3η δεκαετία και μετά, ιδιαίτερα μεταξύ των 40 και 60 χρόνων,
-τραυματισμός και σακχαρώδης διαβήτης.
Η πελματιαία απονευρωσίτιδα ή και η παρουσία άκανθα πτέρνας είναι συχνές σε αθλητές που ασχολούνται με δρόμους μεγάλων αποστάσεων, χορό ή άλματα. Άτομα υπέρβαρα, γυναίκες κατά την διάρκεια της εγκυμοσύνης και όσοι φορούν παπούτσια φθαρμένα και με ανεπαρκή υποστήριξη είναι σε αυξημένο κίνδυνο να παρουσιάσουν πελματιαία απονευρωσίτιδα.
